Firewood Storage Shelf

Year: Summer 2024

My dad has always enjoyed backyard campfires, so I decided to build him a firewood storage shelf for Father’s Day. This project took me about a week and I built it on my front porch.

My process:

  • I sketched a few drafts of the structure and measurements and made a cut list

  • I went to Home Depot to buy supplies and get the lumber cut to size

  • I used screws to secure the wood pieces together

  • I screwed the plywood onto the supports for the roof

  • I cut the roof shingles to size and used nails to put it in place

  • I painted the shelf white

The biggest challenge about this project for me was not having access to a wood shop or space to build and also learning how to handle the roof shingles.
